Performance Dressage/ Show Grey Gelding: Jango (Mr Beau Jangles)

16hh 7 year old very attractive dapple grey performance thoroughbred gelding with bloodlines including Danehill, Raise a Native, Nijinsky and a double cross to Sadler’s Wells. Purchased from the Eagle Park Stud near Orange as an unbroken 4 year old, this horse has been carefully and patiently produced with professional support including weekly lessons, and weekly schooling by a level 1 German dressage coach along with multiple clinics with Dave Cameron, James Mooney, Jeremy Janjic, Megan Joerg - and others.

Working beautifully on the flat, Jango’s dressage scores are consistently in the mid 60’s. He has good confirmation with clean legs. He is cool and calm at shows and has flowing movement over three well established paces. He knows how to be very light in the hand, and is obedient. His schooling to date has focused on establishing the basic paces correctly, acceptance of the contact, improving transitions and suppling via lateral exercises.

Jango is happily jumping 1.05m at home and 85cm in competition, and has had plenty of outings XC training, SJ training and completing EA80 eventing comps. He now has all the basic jump skills well established, however he lacks confidence, and I feel his talents would ultimately be best suited to a dressage/ showing environment, or a home where the expectation around jumping is low level or fun focused (1m or below).
A darling to have around the stables, Jango is easy to handle on the ground – a real gentleman. He’s good to catch, transport, shoe. He’s done bareback swimming at the beach, pony rides for kids, ambles around the trails on a loose rein and is paddocked /stabled alone with no fuss.

He requires an effective and positive rider, someone who understands the correct use of the leg and can provide a consistent contact to work into. Would suit a good adult rider or a capable teen, but definitely isn’t a schoolmaster/ confidence builder type for a novice rider, young teenager or child. Can be ridden by multiple jockeys with no fuss.

Snaffle mouth all disciplines.

- I ride this horse on the roads, however he is nervous of oversized vehicles (trucks/ buses) passing at speed.
- Jango is cold backed; he shows some signs of stiffness until his muscles have warmed up. Due to this, I generally lunge him before getting on. If pressed for time I'll jump on with no lunging, even when pregnant.
- He has a slight respiratory restriction, audible when worked vigorously.

Randwick vets have consulted on both the latter matters and have advised there is nothing wrong with his back. A scope showed that his nasal passages are clear – he is not a ‘roarer’. They advised the restriction doesn’t appear to present any issues for the level of performance at which he’s currently engaged.

The horse can be seen in Duffy’s Forest at weekends by appointment. Personal reasons prompt sale - I'm having a baby at the end of the year and want this special boy to continue his training uninterrupted, I've put a lot of work into him.
