F1 Drum filly 2y old.: F1 Drum filly 2y old. 50% Shire (Viewfield Violet) 50% Gypsy Cob (Castellan) IDHA Reg

Iris is a well put together sporty girl, with a big personality ! Beautifully marked, 50/50 black and white with a well marked blaze and face, lovely lush long straight feather, and a solid build. Iris already has a good chest, and rump, and is well proportioned for her age.

We purchased Iris and her mother at the same time, from Victoria, as we particularly loves Iris’ colouring, and her breeding. Iris’ dam, Viewfield Violet is by stunning stallion, Ingleside Dancer who we have had the pleasure to meet, in Tas and absolutely love him, he has a wonderful nature, beautifully put together and generous with his foals, I was very lucky to sit on him in the paddock while Deb was giving us a tour, an extremely impressive stallion. Violet is a big roomy mare, standing 16.2, with a very broad chest and solid neck, she has stunning action and a lovely personality. Iris’ Sire we met at the stud, Castellan, a beautifully natured, heavy cob, with amazing feather standing just over 14.2. We are very happy with both Iris and Violet, but have decided to go forward with Violet rather than Iris, due to height. We are aiming to breed drums over 16hh, and it looks like Iris is maturing more toward her Sires side than Dam, we estimate she will make 15 – 15.2 on maturity (this of course can all change!)

Iris has a very clever and fun personality, she is a quick learner and wants to be with you, but also likes to play games. Not a dull or dopey bone in her body!! She is a good mover, and is not lazy, she likes to work, and tries very hard to please. Iris is excellent (which means NO MUCKING ABOUT, properly trained, not done once without a tantrum!) at being wormed, hosed and washed, standing to have her feet done, picking up her feet, being tied up, leads nicely, and understands how to come of pressure. Iris float loads confidently, and is respectful at feed time. Iris is easy to catch in the paddock, and very soft and willing to halter. Happy on her own or in a large herd, she has been exposed to both here, and has run with both old mares and foals. She tends to have a more dominant horsenality in the herd, and likes to move the younger ones around, but doesn’t challenge anyone bigger than herself! We transported Iris from Vic to NSW as a baby, and have traveled her quite a few times since, she travels well and is not stressy or silly in the float. We have taken Iris out to a groundwork clinic a few hours away, and we really enjoyed it, she was soft, responsive and learned very quickly.

I would recommend Iris to an experienced home, due to the fact she is a young horse, and likes to move her feet, she will excel with a confident leader to show her the way, she will become a nervous bossy mole with someone who has moveable boundaries, and cant show good leadership. We have put a huge amount of work into handling Iris, so she can be a sensible well balanced partner for her new owner. Iris is very athletic for a heavy horse, so would suit a home that loves the look of a heavy but wants a bit more punch and flash under saddle. Iris will excel in the show ring, she is conformationally correct, beautifully marked and has lovely movement, she is IDHA registered, but also eligible for AGHS and PINTO (depending on state)

Iris is currently fed twice daily, 2kg breeder, 2kg mixed chaff, equilibrium mineral, and 2 leaves Lucerne hay in the morning, 2 x sprouted barley mats in the evening, free access to an oaten round bale, improved sown pasture, and standard knee high coastal grasses. She is up to date with worming (rotational been done 3 times) had dectomax injections, free of mites, and up to date with tetanus and strangles. Iris is groomed and rugged regularly and handled daily, she is NOT a back paddock feral, she is ready for your consideration today.
