‘Horse Capital’ to Host Dressage Championships

In exciting news for local riders and Scone itself the Upper Hunter Dressage Association (UHDA) has been successful in its application to have the 2013 UHDA Championships form part of the inaugural Dressage NSW Regional Dressage Festival which is supported and promoted by Dressage NSW. 

The FDM Logistics Upper Hunter Dressage Association Dressage Championships will be held at White Park, Scone on 6 & 7 July. Entries close 14 June.

The 2 days of competition will see no end of top line names go head to head including past Olympic representatives Heath and Rozzie Ryan, the Grand Prix husband and wife team of Amanda and David Schoobridge, Gina Montgomery, Robyne Smith, Lizzie Wilson Fellows, Lisa Martin, Christine Crawford and Jeremy Janjic. Denise Rogan – FEI rider and the NSW Riders rep.- will also be competing with 2 horses.

First prize for the Grand Prix class is $500 with $100 first prize minimum for the Official Preliminary to Advanced classes. All other FEI classes will offer $150 first prize.  

"The increased prize money has already attracted a number of top rider and horse combinations from across NSW," said UHDA Club President Robyne Smith. "It's certainly going to be a weekend of high quality dressage for those who come and watch. Additional spectator facilities and catering have been arranged so it will be a wonderful experience for competitors and visitors alike."

Supporting local riders the UHDA will present a rug to the UHDA member with the highest Associate Test score who owns, trains and competes the horse they are riding.

"We are proud of the quality of riders who live in the Shire, “says Robyne. “We hope that this new award will encourage more of our members to compete across the weekend. I know one thing – the relevant classes will be hotly contested!"
