Teen Challenge Derby Raises $84,000 to Help Troubled WA Youth

On Sunday 29 April, Swan River Showjumping Club held the Teen Challenge Derby to help raise funds for the Teen Challenge Foundation, which provides programmes to assist troubled youth in WA. Eventer, Sophie Warren, with many other competitors, was keen to help out with the fund raising and decided to "Ride for a Reason" and compete in the event.... Australia’s overseas eventing riders have had their Olympic Games preparations altered after event organisers of the Badminton Horse Trials in Great Britain were forced to cancel the event due to severe rain and flooding. Although seven of Australia’s Olympic hopefuls were due to compete at Badminton this weekend, Equestrian Australia’s National Performance Director for Eventing Prue Barrett said they have strong back up options available for the riders....
Badminton Horse Trials Cancelled Due to Rain

The organisers of the 2012 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials have had to cancel the event due to the heavy rainfall in recent weeks. A statement issued on 30 April, said: "The recent exceptional rainfall has left the ground at Badminton totally waterlogged and partially flooded. "Further rain is due this week leaving no chance of the ground drying out. "Very sadly therefore the 2012 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials has been cancelled."... FEI President, HRH Princess Haya, announced today that the Saudi Equestrian Fund will finance the revitalisation of the FEI Nations Cup™ series. Announcing the agreement at the opening of the FEI Sports Forum in Lausanne (SUI) today, Princess Haya informed delegates that the Saudi Equestrian Fund will provide full financial support for the 2012 series and has also agreed to a five-year title sponsorship commencing in 2013, once the remodelling process has been finalised.... The 2012 Inglis Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale got underway at Oaklands on Sunday, with 79% of the day’s offerings finding new stables. 146 yearlings were sold, headed by Swettenham Stud’s Reset-Tannadice Park filly (Lot 194) - pictured that was purchased by Mornington based trainer Tony Noonan for $40,000.... The Kiwis have finished sixth and seventh at the at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event in the United States this morning (Monday). Jonathan Paget and Clifton Promise (owned by Frances Stead) took two rails in the treble towards the end of the showjumping course dropping them from third to sixth, while Nicholson and Qwanza (owned by Rosemary and Mark Barlow) rode a beautiful clear round to move up the ranks from ninth to seventh....
