19th - Moore Park Stables

Published on Saturday, December 18, 2010 in General

Situated opposite Centennial Park, right next door to Fox Studio Movie Lot - just 15 minutes from Sydney's city centre - Moore Park Stables is a premium horse riding and education centre.

Moore Park Stables is owned and operated by Rosemary Gough, qualified E.F.A. N.C.A.S Level 1G, SSTA riding coach and accomplished show rider. Rose has been operating for 25 years at the Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre (Formally the old Sydney Showgrounds).

Rose and her team of highly qualified instructors teach all standards of lessons from beginner to advanced, with Rose specialising in dressage lessons and the competition rider. Rose is still a regular competitor and has several of her own horses which she successfully shows all over New South Wales. Regular riders at Moore Park have plenty of opportunity to compete both onsite and locally and Rose is more than happy to arrange transport and provide horses for her students to compete on. This is a valuable part of the learning process and allows her students to progress through their competitive experiences.

The Equestrian Centre's facilities are excellent and include a covered arena which is the equivalent size of two Olympic dressage arenas. The arena is available for lessons and also for private horses. There are two further open arenas onsite, both of which are large with all weather surfaces. The Equestrian Centre also has the idyllic setting of Centennial Park to ride around and a large enclosed paddock which is available for jumping and flatwork lessons. The facilities also include several wash bays, a round yard for lunging and loose schooling and sand rolls. A Veterinarian and Farrier are also on site.

Rose has a large range of well schooled horses and ponies who are suitable for all standards and ages of riders. Many of them are ex-competition horses from a variety of equestrian spheres including dressage, showjumping and eventing. All Moore Park Stables horses are carefully matched to the skill of the rider, and all necessary safety equipment is provided.

Guided trail rides around Centennial Park are available from half hour to one and a half hour, with the most popular being the one hour ride. For children under five years of age, or those not wishing to go for a horse trail ride, led pony rides are available.  Lessons and childrens parties are also catered for.  Individual or group Dressage lessons are available with the experienced Moore Park Stables instructors, who are happy to adapt lessons to individual requirements.

Moore Park Stables also conduct two day Pony Camps during the school vacations. These run from 10am - 3pm and the price includes lunches and snacks. During the camps the children learn basic stable management skills; enjoy lessons and park rides; and finish the camp with games and ribbons!

Next camp dates:

  • Thursday 13th and Friday the 14th
  • Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th
