Further to our Facebook post and following our chat last week with members of the Australian team, it's great to see Aussie riders starting off the Horse of the Year Show in such fine form! The Aussies have come out on top in the first big class, the Bomac Norwood Gold Cup, with five of the top six placings going to Australian riders and Billy Raymont (pictured) the winner, riding NZ horse - Nicalette NZPH. ... Hawke's Bay teenager Pippa Huddleston got the surprise of her life at the 2011 NZ Horse of the Year Show when she found herself sharing a horse with top Kiwi rider Lucy Akers. Akers, who is riding in the New Zealand team against the Australians in a test on Friday night, spent some time with the 15-year-old giving her a few tips aboard Fat Albert.... Stephen Muggeridge took a step back in time when he set out for the 2011 New Zealand Horse of the Year Show – much to the delight of many. The school bus driver opted trade his usual mode of transport for his team of Clydesdales. The pretty palomino horse who captured the hearts of the nation after being found with wood preservative splashed on his face, will compete in at the 2011 New Zealand Horse of the Year Show. Squirt and owner Kathryn Corry compete in their first class of the prestigious event today (Wednesday) in the show hunter division, chasing top honours in the amateur and open divisions....
