HSBC, in partnership with the FEI, has created a rider armband to identify the current leader in the HSBC Rankings. The red and white armband featuring “HSBC Eventing World Rankings Leader” will be debuted by Mary King (GBR), remaining with her for as long as she stays at the top of the HSBC Rankings. The armband will be passed on if King is overtaken in the rankings....

Second Hendra Outbreak in Qld - One Horse Dead in NSW

Authorities have now quarantined four Queensland properties due to two separate hendra virus outbreaks. The latest case in Queensland is at a property in the Boonah area south-west of Brisbane. Biosecurity Queensland says test results overnight confirmed a sick horse at the Mount Alford property had hendra virus. There has also been a confirmed case of hendra in northern New South Wales. Lab tests show a horse on a property at Wollongbar was suffering from the virus when it was put down on Thursday morning....

If results of last Sunday’s Auction of the Stars is anything to go by, a strengthening in the riding horse market is on the cards. The magnificent Sydney Polo Club was a fitting venue for the quality line-up of horses where traditionally the market at these auctions has been stronger for unbroken stock. This time around, however, saw many a bidding dual for the riding horses - with six lots selling over $20,000 and the highest priced lot fetching $45,000....
