New Zealand Olympic equestrian hopefuls will this weekend be competing this weekend at the International CIC3* Three Day event in Saumur, France. The British RSPCA are in the middle of a horse crisis! They are seeing an alarming increase in the number of horses and ponies coming into their care as a result of cruelty and neglect. The launch of the Stable Future Appeal is a response to this dire situation, which will hopefully help find more special equine fosterers in the UK. Jodie Smith is a Charles Sturt University Master's Research student looking to increase participation in her online survey, which is researching the distribution of asymmetric locomotory responses in horses under saddle. "What we are researching," says Jodie, "is the effect of our horse's natural motor bias and our motor bias when in partnership. The aim is the explore the relationship between the motor preferences and to see if we are inadvertently training a motor bias into our horses.... Help Raise Funds with the 'Horse Ride for Cancer'

We are all united through the devastating effects of cancer. The truth is, it affects one in two Australians by the age of 85 and is the leading cause of death in Australia. The cost of cancer on our health system is a huge one; it takes approximately $85 Billion a year to treat and care for sufferers. Cancer takes too many of our loved ones from us. Improvements in care and treatment are needed urgently and the Horse Ride for Cancer aims to support this by raising $1 Million for the Cancer Council, by riding 2545 kilometers on horseback across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.... The bid for Olympic selection for Australia's elite dressage riders was underway earlier this month, with the first of the Nomination events at Mannheim CDI in Germany.
