36 Horses to be Assessed for Hendra at Kuranda Property

Biosecurity Queensland and Queensland Health officers are working at the Kuranda property again today after a Hendra virus infection was confirmed yesterday afternoon. Queensland Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Rick Symons said officers were further assessing this situation - at this stage we understand there are 36 horses on the property. "These officers will continue to work with the owners today to assess these animals and to trace their contact with any other horses."...

The NSW Arabian Horse Association Inc are proud to present the 2011 NSW Arabian State Titles "A" Grade (A.A.R.O.M. A:2004) for all registered Arabians/Arabian Derivatives. There will also be an All Breeds Halter Challenge and All Breeds Ridden Challenge in additon to an Open Hack Ring. Ukraine and Japan will both be represented in the Olympic Jumping events at London 2012, following their success at the Olympic qualification event held in Aachen (GER) on 10 July. Ukraine secured a team slot and Japan one individual place during Sunday’s qualifier for Olympic Groups C – Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia – and G – South East Asia and Oceania....

From 4 - 8 July the Pony Club Association of Queensland State Championships for Dressage, Combined Training and Horse Trials, hosted by Zone 26, were held at Caboolture and Burpengary with competitors aged 8 to 26 years attending from far and wide. Queensland competitors travelled from as far North as the Cairns, Townsville and Rockhampton areas and as far west as Roma, plus New South Wales were also represented by a team....

 

Horse in Cairns Positive for Hendra Virus

Biosecurity Queensland is managing a case of Hendra virus infection near Cairns after test results were confirmed this afternoon from a deceased horse came back positive for the virus. Chief Biosecurity officer Jim Thompson said a private vet had attended the sick horse on Sunday and took samples - the horse died yesterday morning. "Samples had been taken from the sick horse by the vet before the animal died", he said....

Rising stars, and many with familiar names, shone brightly at the FEI European Jumping Championships for Children, Juniors and Young Riders 2011 staged in Comporta (POR) over the weekend. Nicola and Olivier Philippaerts, twin sons of long-time Belgian senior team rider Ludo Philippaerts, were members of the victorious Belgian Young Rider side, and 18 year Nicola also took the individual Young Rider title....
