Southern Stars Saddlery Announce Their New Sponsored Rider Team

While Australian Eventing has had it’s fair share of heroes over the last few decades, there is a growing number of young, talented, up and coming riders chomping at the bit to take their place on the Australia Team. Southern Stars Saddlery recently opened applications for their new sponsored rider program. Katherin Guderian from Montana in the United States loves the Australian wild horse so much that she moved from America to make her home with horse 'whisperer' and wild brumby trainer Barry Paton. Teenage showjumper rider Gemma Creighton (pictured) has returned from New Zealand victorious, after competing in the bi-annual Young Rider competition as part of the Queensland team. In 2011 the Equestrian Australia Sport Achievement Awards took on a grand new style, which included a gala evening held at ANZ Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park. The evening featured pre-dinner drinks, a beautiful three course meal and great music, which provided a fantastic night of partying for all in attendance. It was a great opportunity for the best of the best to get together, celebrate their successes and have fun! New Zealand Herald photographer and ESNZ member, Christine Cornege was recognised for her work last night at the 2011 Sir Terry McLean National Sports Journalism Awards dinner. Cornege won the Nikon Award for Sports Photography for best single photo for capturing rider Matthew Grayling coming unstuck in the showjumping phase of the Kihikihi International Horse Trial in April. ...

A tip-off led Northern NSW Police to the bodies of 25 dead ponies about 1.00pm on Saturday. The ponies were dumped off a cliff close to the New England Highway, located near a truck parking bay between Glen Innes and Armidale. Police say there were no obvious signs of injury and no identifying marks or brands to help locate an owner for the dead animals....
