Andrew Nicholson Takes Over Lead in HSBC Rankings After London 2012

Andrew Nicholson (NZL) has taken over as world number one in the HSBC Rankings after the London 2012 Olympic Eventing competition in Greenwich Park. Nicholson, captain of New Zealand’s bronze medal-winning team at London 2012, is now 46 points clear of William Fox-Pitt (GBR) who had led the HSBC Rankings since April. The first Jumping competition of the London 2012 Olympic Games at Greenwich Park threw up some big surprises today. A fabulous performance from Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro ensured that Britain maintains the lead in the team competition, after the Dressage Grand Prix concluded at Greenwich Park today. Here at Horsezone we've been glued to Foxtel London 189, burning the candle at both ends, as Olympic Eventing excitement continued on into the small hours. It only comes around once every four years and so far (apart from our Eventing Team’s bad luck in Cross Country) the 2012 Olympics has been worth the wait!... Australia's three member Dressage team comprising Lyndal Oatley, Kristy Oatley and Marra Hanna will contest the team's event on Thursday 2 August after their horses successfully passed the horse inspection at Greenwich overnight. Competition will run for seven days and bring Equestrian competition to a close on Thursday 9 August.... Kiwi Louisa Hill and Bates Antonello Primed and Ready!

It’s D-day for New Zealand’s sole dressage representative at the London Olympics. Louisa Hill and her stunning horse Bates Antonello (AJ) will compete in the individual dressage competition Friday morning at 2.02am (NZ time) and 12.02am (Australian time). For the 50-year-old from Auckland, who is competing at her second Olympics, it will be a relief to get underway after a rather challenging preparation....
