A New Life for Jett - The Transformation Continues!

Jett now...
...And when Teale first got him, just over six weeks ago!

Jett, the ex-racehorse we previously reported on who had fallen on hard times, is improving at a great rate in his new life! See links below to follow Jett's progress.

We caught up with Teale Toohey, the person responsible for giving Jett a second chance, to see how he's going now.

"I don’t think I could be happier with where Jett is with his weight and condition," says Teale. "As you can see from his latest photo he is looking amazing. I have started Jett on the Prydes Rebuild supplement and I have found in only two weeks his condition and overall weight has come on leaps and bounds. His attitude and behaviour hasn’t changed at all, he is still very laid back when being handled on the ground and under saddle I couldn’t fault him."

I was wondering if Jett had been partaking of the spring grass, "He is in a sand yard on his own, so unfortunately he doesn’t have access to any spring grass, but I’m trying to let him pick as much as possible after having a ride. He has mates in nearby yards who keep him company."

On the training front, Teale and Jett are busy and focused, "We are booked in for a lesson with the lovely Jacqui van Montfrans next week and I’m really looking forward to the lesson. Hopefully Jacqui will be able to get us both on the right path to achieving our first goal of competing at our first show in March next year."

"With all the rain we have had lately our arena has been flooded, so I have taken the opportunity to get Jett out and about. We have been going on trail rides, which he enjoys. We came across a small river while on one of our rides and he was so scared, I’m not sure he had ever seen anything like it! It took me nearly 20 minutes to get him going through it, but eventually we got there and I now can get him walking through without completely being beside himself. Thoroughbreds can work themselves up so much at times."

When asked if Jett knows that she's his 'mum, Teale replied, "He has worked out who I am and loves giving cuddles. Hopefully over the Christmas period we will be able to have a few more lessons, lots of riding and more quality time together!"

We can't wait to hear how Jett and Teale go with their lessons and look forward to more instalments on Jett's new life.
