Aussie Para-Equestrian Team Moves into Athlete's Village
Australia's Para-Equestrian riders are settling into life in the Paralympic Games Athlete's Village. The four member team of Grace Bowman, Hannah Dodd, Joann Formosa and Rob Oakley along with support staff will call the village home for the duration of the Paralympic Games which start on Wednesday 29 August.
The riders moved into the Village on Friday after they bid farewell to their pre-Games training base at Sparsholt College, which is about 90 minutes out of London. The horses travelled ahead of the riders and were accompanied by the grooms – Nicole King, Fay Mendez, Kate O’Brien and Elsa Davis, and the team’s vet – Janine Dwyer.
Since their arrival, the team has been travelling between the Village and Greenwich Park where they have been given the chance to familiarise with the arena. In-between training sessions the riders have been decorating their stables with Australian flair.
Equestrian gets underway on day one of the Paralympic Games. You can view the competition schedule here.
