'Canine Capers' at the Saddleworld Dressage Festival

“CANINE  CAPERS” will be held at the Saddleworld Dressage Festival on Friday 7 December 2012 at approximately 7:30pm in the Indoor Arena. Categories include:

• Two x Special Fancy dress prizes open to all dogs – the theme is 'Santa’s Little Helper' this will be judged before the races start.
• Best dressed dog
• Best dressed dog and handler

Flat events include:

• The Dachshund Dash. Open to all shapes and sizes of Dachshunds - a 30 metre (approx) sprint
• The Rustlers Rush. Open to all shapes and sizes of Jack Russells – another 30m sprint (Class may be split in to male and female if there are a lot of entries
• The Small Dog Dash. If you are not a JR or dachshund and you’re under 25cm in height (height at the shoulder)– this is the race for you. A flat race of approx 30 metres
• The Medium Sized Dog Dash.  A flat race of approximately 30-45 metres for dogs over 25cm and under 45cm – a race of about 45 metres in length – could be longer if your pup is up to it!
• The Big Dog Dash.  A 45 metre dash for the big dogs over 45cm in height. We might split this group if there are a lot of big doggies. 

Steeplechase events include:

• The Dachshunds are on again – this time in a steeplechase event (about 30cm high)
• Jack Russells feature in this Steeplechase event – might be split in to male and female if there are a lot of them. The fences will be about 30cm high
• The Small Dog Steeple for dogs with a bit of this and a bit of that – still only little jumps for these small ones
• The Medium Sized Dog Steeple – this could get serious now and the jumps may  be bigger – not too big for the handlers though
• Big Dog Jump and Run.  Either on or off the lead this could get pretty exciting.

CHAMPION SMALL DOG – WINNERS AND RUNNERS UP FROM CLASSES 1 - 3 

CHAMPION LARGER DOG – WINNERS AND RUNNERS UP FROM CLASSES 4 & 5 

PRIZES - Ribbons 1st-3rd      ROSETTES AND PRIZES FOR CHAMPIONS

Entry Fee  $10 per dog for 3 events - flat race, steeplechase and fancy dress.          

Please make sure you have your dog on a lead outside the competition arena at all times.

Dogs may be led in the steeplechase events and it is suggested you have two handlers per dog in the flat races unless your dog is obedient enough to sit and stay at the start! Bring a muzzle if you feel your dog may need one. The program could be changed due to unforeseen circumstances or events getting out of control.

The judge’s decision will be final and there will be no avenue of appeal – however we will look at photo finish evidence upon payment of an extraordinarily large fee!
