Club of the Moment: Bennison Adult Riding Club

The Bennison Adult Riding Club Inc was founded in 1990 by Cindy Barker and Julie Walsh. For the Financial Year commencing 1 November 1990 there were six financial riding members and one financial non-riding member.

Since then the Bennison Adult Riding Club Inc, which is affiliated with The Horse Riding Club Association of Victoria has increased its membership from that to approximately 45  members with more interest shown for membership at every meeting. The membership base ranges from Yarram through to Mornington Peninsula.

The Club has shown quite a lot of success over the last few years especially with members representing the Club at all the Top Team Trophy events whether it be Showing, Dressage, Horse Trials or Showjumping. Usually the Club are able to send at least two teams.

A couple of big successes have been winning the Top Team Trophy Dressage 2011, as well as winning the TTT Show jumping in March 2007, which was held in Sale.

The success Bennison ARC is having has been mainly due to a great organizing executive committee and enthusiastic riders who are willing to put in the effort to improve and help others to learn and improve as well, whilst maintaining a happy and friendly environment.

There is an age Limit of 16 years to join. Stallions are allowed at Club level.

Rallies

Rallies are held on the 3rd weekend of the month, Saturday or Sunday depending on the avilablilty of instructors. They generally consist of flat lessons, show jumping/poles or cross country lessons.

Rallies cost $30 per rally (up to 2 lessons). There is a voucher system - $240.00 for 12 months, which can be used over a 18 month period or $150.00 for six rallies to be used over a nine month period.

Instructors and Members

Bennison Adult Riding Club have fantastic instructors that provide tuition, including Pam Hall, Paul Rasmussen, Shane Simpson,   Kelly Van den Berg, Yvonne Morrison, Russell Morrison and Amalfi White. There are brief profiles on these instructors on the Bennison ARC website, outlining their areas of expertise, qualifications and contact details. This innovative club also has a page that provides basic details of the members, without invading anyone's privacy too much, which helps everyone get to know each other a bit better.

2012 HRCAV TTT Dressage

Bennison Adult Riding Club Inc will be hosting the HRCAV TTT Dressage for 2012 at the Sale Showgrounds on 9-11 November.

The Club is a member of the HRCAV which annually hold Top Teams Trophy (TTT) Events in each equestrian discipline of Dressage, Showing, Show Jumping, Horse Trials, Combined Training and Navigation Rides. Clubs compete in teams of four and the winning team earns the right to host the following year’s event.  These events are prestigious within the Association and last year’s Dressage attracted a record 600 entrants and approximately a further 450 spectators who come from all areas throughout Victoria.
