Equestrian Australia (EA) has today announced the national eventing squads for 2014.

A combination’s admittance to the ‘WEG 2014’ or ‘Rio 2016’ eventing squad is dependent on it meeting the criteria outlined in the squad selection policy for eventing.

“In order to be considered for either squad, combinations must have achieved the minimum performance criteria for the respective squad. These are specific scores that must be attained at either CCI2*, CCI3* or CCI4* level,” said National Performance Director for Eventing, Prue Barrett.

“The squads have been named in line with the objective criteria of the squad selection policy which gives a clear guideline towards the scores that are required to be competitive at major championships."

"The World Equestrian Games (WEG) selection policy for eventing does not require combinations to be on the WEG 2014 squad to be selected for WEG. In addition, combinations named on the WEG 2014 squad are not guaranteed selection to the team.

“Now that we are into 2014 our combinations are stepping up their campaign for a position on the Australian team and there are some very experienced combinations also on the 2016 squad, who with further good performances would well contribute to a successful team performance or indeed an individual medal,” Barrett said.

EA would like to congratulate the riders, owners and teams behind the selected combinations.

Please Note: Combinations will not be listed on the EA National Squad unless the rider has returned their signed athlete agreement to the EA office. The inclusion of some combinations is still pending this paperwork and they will be added in due course.
