Frankie Dettori Carries Olympic Torch at Ascot
Published on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in 2012 London
Frankie Dettori had hoped to ride around Ascot carrying the Olympic torch, but The Sun has reported that the excited crowd proved too much for retired racehorse Monsignor, who bolted, forcing Frankie to dismount.
The Italian had to walk Monsignor into the parade ring before mounting again. To the delight of the crowd, after several laps of the parade ring, Frankie did his trademark jumping dismount with the Olympic torch in hand.
Monsignor, who was a successful galloper in his day, was on loan from racehorse rehoming charity, HEROS.
