Mary King Tops the HSBC Rankings

HSBC, in partnership with the FEI, has created a rider armband to identify the current leader in the HSBC Rankings. The red and white armband featuring “HSBC Eventing World Rankings Leader” will be debuted by Mary King (GBR), remaining with her for as long as she stays at the top of the HSBC Rankings. The eight-leg FEI Nations Cup™ 2011 series reaches the halfway stage when it resumes, after a four-week break, at Falsterbo, Sweden next Friday (8 July), and with The Netherlands holding a solid lead at the top of the league table. New Zealand's most capped Olympians will arrive at the first test event for the 2012 London games in a traditional black cab, complete with silver fern. Double gold Olympic medallist Mark Todd and World Equestrian Championships bronze medallist Andrew Nicholson are competing in the Greenwich Park Eventing Invitational which starts on Monday (UK time).... If results of last Sunday’s Auction of the Stars is anything to go by, a strengthening in the riding horse market is on the cards. The magnificent Sydney Polo Club was a fitting venue for the quality line-up of horses where traditionally the market at these auctions has been stronger for unbroken stock. This time around, however, saw many a bidding dual for the riding horses - with six lots selling over $20,000 and the highest priced lot fetching $45,000.... Gucci has announced that it will be continuing its collaboration with equestrian show jumper and granddaughter of Princess Grace of Monaco, Charlotte Casiraghi. This will be the second year that the 90-year-old fashion house will create a line for the 24-year-old competitive rider, who will wear Gucci to compete in the 2011 Global Champions tour.... In a day that seems full of bad news the German dressage site, St Georg has reported that one of the world’s leading sires of dressage horses died in Germany yesterday. Hayley Beresford's 12 year old Lusitano stallion and Olympic team horse Relampago do Retiro passed away in a tragic road accident, which took place yesterday near Hayley's base in Soest-Lippetal, Germany....
