Entries have come in from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Europe and America for Australia’s first art prize devoted to the thoroughbred form – the Inglis Equine Art Prize. Entries close on 4 July, and prize organiser Mike Coward says the quality of work submitted so far proves the age-old discipline of equine art is in safe hands.... German rider, Sandra Auffarth’s, outstanding CCI4* debut at HSBC FEI Classics on Opgun Louvo, a young horse she has produced herself, gained her the HSBC Training Bursary worth US$1,000. Her achievement opens up the exciting prospect of a possible place in the squad for the forthcoming HSBC FEI European Eventing Championship at Luhmühlen (25-28 August) at which Germany, as host nation, will be entitled to field 12 riders.... New Zealand's hopes of having showjumping represented at the 2012 Olympic Games are looking slim, with news that Katie McVean has returned from Europe this weekend. McVean headed to Holland with the offer to ride Wavantos VD Renvillehoeve for a Dutch owner with the aim of qualifying New Zealand for the Olympics at Aachen in Germany early next month. But on arrival the horse had not yet arrived at the Dutch stable, and 25-year-old McVean felt time was simply running out....
Joseph Miller - Miller Harness Company - Dies at Age 93

Joseph Miller, who built his father’s humble harness shop in Manhattan into one of the USA's largest suppliers of fashionable saddlery, riding apparel and other equestrian equipment, died on June 12 at his home in Manhattan. He was 93. Mr Miller was president and chief executive of the Miller Harness Company from the late 1940s until 1975, when it was sold to another company. ... New Website for AELEC
