Aussie Eventing Riders to Revise Olympic Games Preparations After Badminton Cancellation

Australia’s overseas eventing riders have had their Olympic Games preparations altered after event organisers of the Badminton Horse Trials in Great Britain were forced to cancel the event due to severe rain and flooding. Although seven of Australia’s Olympic hopefuls were due to compete at Badminton this weekend, Equestrian Australia’s National Performance Director for Eventing Prue Barrett said they have strong back up options available for the riders....

 

Badminton Horse Trials Cancelled Due to Rain

The organisers of the 2012 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials have had to cancel the event due to the heavy rainfall in recent weeks. A statement issued on 30 April, said: "The recent exceptional rainfall has left the ground at Badminton totally waterlogged and partially flooded. "Further rain is due this week leaving no chance of the ground drying out. "Very sadly therefore the 2012 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials has been cancelled."...

 

Saudi Equestrian Fund to Finance FEI Nations Cup™ Face-Lift

FEI President, HRH Princess Haya, announced today that the Saudi Equestrian Fund will finance the revitalisation of the FEI Nations Cup™ series. Announcing the agreement at the opening of the FEI Sports Forum in Lausanne (SUI) today, Princess Haya informed delegates that the Saudi Equestrian Fund will provide full financial support for the 2012 series and has also agreed to a five-year title sponsorship commencing in 2013, once the remodelling process has been finalised....
