NSW Department of Primary Industries has advised that from 1 September 2012, anyone who keeps livestock in NSW will be required to obtain a PIC for the land on which the livestock are kept. The expanded requirements also include deer, bison, buffalo, camelids, equines (ie: horses and donkeys), 100 or more poultry birds or 10 or more emus or ostriches.... Appaloosa breeder and western showing competitor Lee Mannix and her husband Brent, recently experienced a terrible tragedy. Brent was critically injured when his trail bike collided with a kangaroo at their small farm in Robinvale, Victoria. He suffered many injuries, including the fracturing of T 4,5 and 6 vertebrae, meaning that he will be a paraplegic. He is 42.... Kiwis Strong for World University Equestrian Championships

New Zealand riders are expected to make quite a debut at the 10th World University Equestrian Championships in Aachen, Germany, this week. Rachael Bentall, Chloe Akers (pictured) and Helen Bruce will be the first ever Kiwi representatives at the biennial German event, but trainer John Cottle is picking they will do well. “It’s a new competition for us, but these girls are all great team members, good riders and will be excellent ambassadors for the country,” he said.... The New York Daily News have reported that a runaway carriage horse wreaked havoc during the start of rush hour on Thursday afternoon ,after breaking free and running off before hitting a parked car near Columbus Circle. Australian tourists Nathan and Kelly Thompson were enjoying a ride around the popular tourist spot around 4.20 pm when driver Mehmet Dundar tried to merge into traffic at the circle, witnesses and law enforcement sources said....

There will be no rest for the world’s top Showjumpers following on from the Olympic Games, with the ninth round of the Global Champions Tour to get underway this weekend in Valkenswaard, The Netherlands. Round nine will be staged on the Stal Tops private equestrian estate which is the home of GCT founder Jan Tops....
