Mark Todd Still on the Hunt for Olympic Gold

Mark Todd may have dominated the sport of eventing for much of the past three decades, but the New Zealander’s ferociously competitive streak remains undimmed. Todd is currently sporting an injured knee – not as a result of his hazardous riding career, but from a holiday confrontation with an African elephant! While most would turn and run at the sight of a fast-approaching bull elephant, Todd stood his ground until the very last moment before launching himself into a nearby bush. ... Eventer Paul Tapner has confirmed that advanced horse Kilfinnie II (aka Scottie), who he competed on at Badminton 2011, was put down at the start of November last year, aged 12. “There were various complications that contributed to the very hard decision. He is and will be very much missed for a long time, he had a heart of gold and we were very lucky to have had him to campaign as part of out team,” said a message on the rider’s Tapner Eventing Team facebook page.... Anyone who has seen War Horse will agree it's impossible not to shed a tear or ten, especially for horse people who can relate so strongly to the story and the wonderful horses in the movie. It seems the Duchess of Cambridge also appreciates an emotional horse story and although allergic to horses, was moved to tears during the UK premiere of the film. Congratulations to FEI President, Princess Haya and her husband Sheikh Mohammed, who announced via Twitter that they welcomed the birth of their son. The royal couple named the little boy Zayed and the news spread fast around the world as Sheikh Mohammed has a Twitter following of over 600,000 people.
