Published on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in General

Sydney 2000 Olympics Gold Medallist Stuart Tinney is a confirmed starter in this year’s  much anticipated Davcar Horse Floats Queensland International Three Day Event at Warwick from 21-24 March 2013.

Stuart has also been named Captain of the “Over the Top” Queensland team for this year’s gruelling test of both horse and rider, which has been dubbed ‘State Of Origin’ on horseback.

This year’s contest will feature a chase for individual glory and for the first time, a team’s competition, with the Queensland squad throwing down the gauntlet to their NSW counterparts in a winner takes all showdown.

“Although I’m now based in NSW, I’m a born and bred Queenslander, and I can’t wait to show the Blues how it’s done” said Tinney, with a smile

Warwick Three Day Event Committee President Dr Cameron Osborne says entries for this year’s competition opened on January 28th.

“The excitement is really building. We’ve had interest from as far afield as WA, who have enquired about fielding a team in 2014, and the rivalry has begun with tweets from half way across the world, ” Dr Osborne said.

“We’re thrilled to have an Olympic gold medallist of the calibre of Stuart Tinney competing helping spark interest in the event from around Australia.” said Dr Osborne.

Eventing is the ultimate endurance test of rider and horse, with three disciplines – showjumping, cross country and dressage  contested over three gruelling days at Warwick’s Morgan Park.
