Great Showjumping Action at Bega

Published on Friday, December 28, 2012 in General

The Bega Showjumping Cup, being held 27-30 December, has continued to grow from strength to strength with this year’s event bringing more riders and excitement to the Bega Showground. 2012 is the 17th year in which this prestigious event has featured on the Australian Showjumping circuit.

The three massive days of competition have been going well with the sun shining and plenty of sensational jumping. There are a record number of horses stabled at the event, with many riders traditionally following the road to Bega for a Horsey Holiday.

Sydney's Dave Cameron and Explore won the main 1.40m class, with Grant Hughes and Yakity Yak second and third going to young gun James Hetherington and Master Class, while fourth was taken out by local hero Jamie Smith and the long time sensation, Mr Witter.

The main class of the weekend will be run on Saturday evening with the annual Bega Showjumping Cup on the line.

Last Year's winner, Jamie Grant who is competing again this year, says, "It's one of the best classes of the year and always a great one to win, Cool K ( his horse) and I will be doing everything possible to go back to back winners, something which in the 20 plus history of the event, has never been done."
