Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse Association Open Day: 19 October 2014

Published on Friday, October 3, 2014 in General

The Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse Association Inc. is holding an Open Day on Sunday 19 October 2014 at 1378 Guyra Rd EBOR.

We are having a guest horse handler, Barry Christofferson from Casino; he has kindly offered to come and give a demonstration of Natural Horsemanship, using one of the Guy Fawkes horses removed from the park. If time permits we will also be conducting a demonstration on using a pack saddle and the art of packing a horse correctly.

As you are probably aware from the media there is talk of feral horse management plans being revised. The ongoing success of the Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse Assn and the horses we sell has enabled the passive trapping program to continue in the GFRNP. We need you, the public to continue to support us and what we do to ensure the safety of the remaining horses in the park. Please come along and help us out.

Our Open Days are not just about selling horses, they are public awareness days, we are trying to raise awareness of the plight of the brumbies living out there in the wild in the National Park where they are considered a feral animal that needs to be removed. We on the other hand consider them to be attractive, versatile, curious and friendly horses that are willing to try anything you put at them and become your lifelong friend at the same time. We are fully self-funded and run entirely by volunteers, because we think they deserve the option.

We have a large number of the Guy Fawkes Heritage Horses newly arrived from the National Park for sale, many colours and sizes, ranging from young horses ready to start under saddle, weanlings, breeding mares, some with foals at foot.

Gates open at 9.30 am. Entry is $5 per person and kids under 12 are free, so come and see what the fuss is about and join us for a great day out. Your purchase of Morning Tea and Lunch from our canteen or merchandise will go towards funding our new facilities and continued care of our horses. Please bring a chair and a jumper and not your dog.

Bookings would be appreciated for catering purposes. For enquiries, directions and bookings phone
