Published on Thursday, March 1, 2012 in General

The four day 2012 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale came to an end at Oaklands this afternoon, with Session Two’s offering adding another $2.8million to the sales overall gross of $34.8million.

Champion Victorian trainer Peter Moody purchased today’s top two lots, both Super VOBIS and VOBIS Gold eligible colts from Makybe.

Moody went to $125,000 to secure Lot 659 (pictured), a colt by Street Hero from Danehill mare Quiet Name, and $115,000 for Lot 688 a colt by Purrealist from Smytzer’s Thunder.

“We have been very pleased with so much positive feedback from vendors and buyers alike over the past four days and look forward to taking the momentum of the yearling sale through to tomorrow’s Select Racehorse Sale,” said Inglis Melbourne Director Peter Heagney.

28 horses have been sold privately from the first three days for up to $200,000 taking the overall clearance rate for Session One to 82%.

Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm’s Testa Rossa-General Resolve filly (Lot 557) that passed-in yesterday was sold privately today for $200,000 to Laurel Oak Bloodstock and Tony Noonan.

“With more Make-An-Offer requests coming in our bloodstock staff will be working tirelessly in the coming days to sell those yearlings that passed-in over the past four days,” Heagney added.
