Jilly Cooper Researching New Novel About Flat Racing

Published on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in General

With all the excitement of the London Olympics, now is the perfect time to re-read Jilly Cooper's classic novel 'Riders', when you're not glued to television coverage or trying to stay awake at work, that is!

If you've already read 'Riders' 100 times, there is great news for Jilly fans - British publication Horse & Hound has reported that she is currently researching a new book!

"Jilly Cooper has had a 'heavenly' time this summer researching her new novel — set in the world of Flat racing," states Horse & Hound.

"I’ve been to the Guineas, the Derby, to Ascot and I’m off to Goodwood this week. I’ve met Sir Henry Cecil and even Frankel," Jilly told Horse & Hound.

"I don’t think the latter liked me very much, though, as he tried to nip me."

Jilly’s favourite rascal-in-jods Rupert Campbell-Black once again stars in the new book — working title 'Leading Sire' — with his stallion Love Rat and the horse’s offspring Master Quickly.

Doesn't sound like Jilly got to meet Black Caviar but we hope she gets a mention in the new book!
