Jockeys Swap Silks for Jumping Jackets at the Sydney International Horse Trials!

Published on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in Sponsored Shows

Brenton Avdulla, Kathy O’Hara, Josh Adams and Gerald Ryan will be fronting up to test their show jumping skills at the Sydney International Horse Trials this Sunday, 27 April.

The event is hosting the inaugural Celebrity Jockey’s Jumping Challenge as part of their “Tribute to the Horse.”  The jockeys will take centre stage at 12:30pm in Arena 2.

“We want to acknowledge the versatility of these amazing animals. So many great Eventing and Jumping horses have started their lives on the race track.  So for a bit of fun we have turned the tables and are going to test the versatility of the riders,” explained Event Director Rose Read.

The jockeys will each be paired with a leading Eventing or Jumping rider. Olympic medallists Shane Rose and Megan Jones as well as Dave Cameron and Australian show jumping legend Chris Chugg will team up with the jockeys, but their challenge will be a pony race.

“Naturally we will make the jockeys jump and the jumpers gallop,” added Read.

So be ready to cheer on the teams and have a good laugh as these competitive characters take on a new challenge.

Sydney International Horse Trials will host elite level Eventing and Jumping competitions throughout the weekend including a CCI3* and a Jumping Word Cup Qualifier – please see www.sydneyeventing.org  for the full timetable of events.
