Kiwis in Touch at Aachen

New Zealand are sitting in fourth position this morning with just the cross country to go at the Aachen World Equestrian Festival in Germany.

As expected the hosts are leading from the front, sitting on 113.4 penalty points as a team, with individuals in first, second, fourth and sixth spots. 

Badminton winner Jonathan Paget and Clifton Lush (owned by Lucy Allison and Frances Stead) New Zealands best-placed after the dressage and showjumping, in 13th place on 43.8, with Luhmuhlen victor Andrew Nicholson and Quimbo (owned by Libby Sellar) in 17th on 44.2.

Clarke Johnstone and Incognito (owned by the Johnstone family) is in 24th on 49.8 with the other team rider Jonelle Richards aboard The Deputy (owned by Lucy Sangster and Mr and Mrs T Morice) in 40th with 70.6.

Individual Megan Heath and St Daniel are sitting just ahead of her in 38th spot with 64.4.

Equestrian Sports High Performance director Sarah Harris says the competition is tough.

It seems to have lifted to another level again,she said.

The competition concludes with the cross country tomorrow morning, which is expected to give both leaderboards a good shake-up.
