Luckygray a Great Pointer to the Upcoming Inglis Australian Weanling & Bloodstock Sale

Published on Thursday, June 14, 2012 in General

Outstanding WA galloper Luckygray burst through the $1million earnings mark in Perth last Saturday, a great result on the $31,000 he cost at the 2008 Inglis Australian Weanling & Bloodstock Sale.

Already the winner of the Group 1 WATC Railway Stakes this season, the four-year-old will be aimed at the W.S Cox Plate in the spring after demolishing a class field in the Group 3 WATC Belmont Sprint (1400m) last weekend carrying 61kgs.

From the first crop of his stakes winning sire LUCKYGRAY (4g Bradbury’s Luck-Damah Lady) featured in Inglis' First Season Sire Showcase and was pinhooked from the draft of Goodwood Farm to Riverslea Farm as a weanling, going on to be sold as a yearling to trainer Gino Poletti.

First Season Sires represented in the weanling section of the upcoming 2012 Inglis Australian Weanling and Bloodstock Stock Sale include Group 1 winners All American, Big Brown, Denman, Duporth, Manhattan Rain, Nicconi, Onemorenomore, Turffontein and Wanted, plus top level performers Dreamscape, I Am Invincible, Murtajill, Raheeb, Time Thief and Von Costa de Hero.

“Pre-sale inspections just completed in the Hunter Valley have identified many attractive weanlings by proven and exciting young sires that should take the eye of both pinhookers and those looking to secure a prospect to race,” Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy points out.

Along with First Season Sires the catalogue of 338 weanlings includes the progeny of top stallions such as Fastnet Rock, High Chaparral, Lonhro, Danehill Dancer, Commands, Encosta de Lago, Flying Spur, Testa Rossa, Snitzel, Al Maher and Starcraft.

Also featuring 175 broodmares, 1 stallion, 117 yearlings, 7 unbroken stock and 30 racehorses this year’s Australian Weanling & Bloodstock Sale will be conducted at Newmarket in Sydney on June 27, 28 & 29.

40 supplementary entries have been received for the three day sale already, including a half-sister to Group 1 Queensland Oaks winner Quintessential. Supplementary entries close next Wednesday June 20. Online entries can be made HERE or entry forms can be downloaded HERE
