New Logo for Sydney CDI & New Australia Vs NZ Dressage Duel

Published on Monday, January 21, 2013 in General

When the event moved from Lochinvar to Sydney (in 1992) we decided it was time we had an event specific logo.  The idea of using the iconic Sydney Opera House as part of the logo came from Chris Hector (The Horse Magazine).  For the last 18 years the Sydney CDI logo featured the Sydney Opera House as part of the image.

Times have changed and due to copyright restrictions we had to change the logo.  The new version features the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge but retains a smaller image of the Sydney Opera House.

This change in the logo also signifies a few changes for the Sydney CDI.  For the last 21 years the Sydney CDI has invited riders from around the world to compete at the event on borrowed horses in the “small tour” and the hotly contested Prix St Georges Derby Competition.  We are taking a break from this tradition this year but will consider its reintroduction in the future if we can get enough support from horse owners to provide suitable horses.

We have had many talented and wonderful personalities from a wide range of countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Great Britain, Canada, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, USA, South Africa, India, Singapore, Japan and Korea take part in this event. Their participation played a major part in shaping the Sydney CDI into what it is today.

New Zealand riders and their horses have taken part in the Sydney CDI each and every year since its inception and we will welcome them again in 2013.

Down Under Dressage Duel - A tournament between Australia and New Zealand’s finest horses and riders

As the Sydney CDI will no longer have a Derby competition, we will be offering a friendly Team competition between Australia and New Zealand with a representative from each country competing across the various levels: Small Tour, Big Tour, CDI-Y and Under-25 Grand Prix.

We hope that our friends from New Zealand will take up the challenge.

Information on the Sydney CDI can be found on the event website www.sydneycdi.com.

The on-line ticket booking office is open so get in early and choose your favourite seats.
