The final day of the 2017 International Horse Trials saw plenty of new names join the winner’s list of one of Australia’s most revered eventing competitions.

Queensland rider Madeline Wilson (pictured) enjoyed the biggest win of her riding career with her eight-year-old Warmblood/Thoroughbred cross I’m Bruce in the Horseware Australia CCI3*.

“It’s really exciting to get my biggest win on him. We have put a lot of work in and its finally paid off,” Wilson said.

And in the Equestrian Australia CIC3* Katie Taliana and Trevalgar II also broke through for their best performance in a while after going clear in the show jumping.

“I am beside myself. This is massive. This is his first clear round at three star ever,” Taliana said.

“He’s had 18 months off with a wind operation and we have worked really hard with his show jumping. Amanda Madigan, Fiona Hughes and my husband Nick have helped me so much and today we have reaped the benefits.”

“He’s not naturally talented at show jumping but today he gave his best.”

Taliana’s last major win with Trevalgar II was in the CIC3* at Tamworth in 2015.

Talented Victorian rider Andrew Cooper finished the event on a high note winning the Tarraleah Park CCI2* with Hunters Hill and the Bucas Horse Rugs Australia CCI1* aboard Doubled Vision.

Next month Cooper and his more experienced horse Evergem Perfection will represent Australia for the first time at the Oceania Championships against New Zealand. This will be staged in conjunction with the Melbourne International Three Day Event at Werribee Park.
