Opportunity to Join the MIHT 2014 Volunteer Workforce

Published on Monday, March 3, 2014 in General

Horse lovers have a great opportunity to become involved with one of Australia’s top equestrian events to be held in June at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre (WPNEC) in Victoria.

Melbourne International Horse Trials (MIHT) organisers are calling on people to volunteer online www.miht.com.au/volunteers for the Queen’s Birthday weekend event (Friday, 6 – Monday, 9 June) taking place at the Werribee Park precinct.

The organisers have opened up the volunteer register in order to give more people the opportunity to take an active role in this growing event.  Volunteers have the chance to register for a range of roles over the MIHT, including event marshaling, dressage pencillers and spectator services.

There are positions available for the most experienced of equestrian event volunteers to those willing to learn and lend a hand.  Event director Michael Hands said the volunteer workforce is an essential element to making MIHT a success.

“The volunteer workforce has been an integral part of MIHT operations over the event’s 57 year history,” Mr Hands said.

“Prior experience or knowledge isn’t necessary for volunteers, as full training will be provided, and we encourage people with a background in equestrian and also those who would just like to be up close and personal to the action to apply.”

In May this year, MIHT will host volunteer training sessions across regional Victoria and successful volunteers will be to stay in campsites at WPNEC while volunteering at the three-day event.

For those who would rather enjoy the MIHT from a spectator’s seat, tickets are on sale now via Ticketek http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=EDAYEQPXY#.UvQFBKVLGFI and further information on the MIHT event can be found at.
