Prestigious brands support flagship London LGCT event

The countdown to the Longines Global Champions Tour of London has begun and the event promises to be a true social whirl in one of the great capital cities of the world.  The 11th leg of the spectacular 2014 Championship race will play out on one of the most stunning stages ever seen on a show jumping series and many prestigious brands will be involved in this flagship event.

Horse Guards Parade Ground, by kind permission of Royal Parks, will be the stunning destination for the landmark event where passionate spectators in the main grandstands will join VIPs in the luxurious hospitality suites around the unique arena. The sporting action will unfold next to some of the most famous landmarks in the world, like No10 Downing Street, Big Ben and the London Eye.

The BBC will be broadcasting live the major competition classes on Friday and Saturdayincluding the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of London Presented by Qatar. Longines, Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the international Tour, will present a special Swiss-manufactured watch to the winner. Longines and the prestigious show jumping series joined forces last year as part of a long term partnership.

Qatar will be presenting sponsor of the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of London, developing a growing partnership. Qatar has a significant array of prominent interests in London, including Harrods, the Olympic village and Heathrow Airport. The historic setting, Horse Guards Parade Ground, is the official ceremonial entrance to St. James’s and Buckingham Palace, and headquarters of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment who provide troops for The Queen’s Life Guard.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson has once again given support to the event which has also been made possible by The Royal Parks. This year we transfer to the historic and iconic Horse Guards Parade, best known around the globe for HM The Queen’s Birthday Parade - Trooping the Colour. This site, situated right at the heart of our great city, has been a home to equestrian events for hundreds of years."

Among the main sponsors is Maybourne Hotel Group, owner and operator of three of London's most renowned hotels - Claridge's, the Connaught and the Berkeley. Maybourne's collaboration with the Longines Global Champions Tour reflects its ongoing support of the most notable dates in the Modern British Season calendar. The skill, glamour and elegance associated with the event, coupled with its distinguished location in the centre of the capital, epitomises the style and heritage of the hotels.
