Queensland Horse Council Inc Seeking Industry Liaison Officers

The Queensland Horse Council Inc (QHC Inc) is seeking enthusiastic, committed people who are prepared to take on the challenge of training to be an accredited INDUSTRY LIAISON OFFICER for the horse industry.

The Role

You will be a member of a reserve group that may be called on to assist in the event of an emergency animal disease outbreak affecting the horse industry.

You must undertake accredited training provided by Animal Health Australia and be prepared to represent the horse industry in a control centre in an emergency animal disease response. If you are required for duty, you will receive a comprehensive induction, including, if required, refresher training. You can expect to work in a team with other liaison officers and government personnel.

Your work will be busy, challenging,and on occasion, stressful.

Typical Tasks

If called to act as an ILO you can expect to:

• Advise on the nature of the local industry and horse community to aid disease risk assessment.

• Help develop and implement plans for disease eradication/control.

• Advise on the economic and other consequences of proposed actions.

• Act as a focus for consultation and advice to the local horse industry and community.

• Advise on resources available from the horse industry and local business.

• Provide feedback from the horse industry and community to the control centre.
