RASV Opens Entries for 2014 Royal Melbourne Horse Show

The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) has opened entries for the 2014 Royal MelbourneHorse Show, held over the Australia Day long weekend from Friday, 24 to Monday, 27 January 2014. 

The Royal Melbourne Horse Show is the largest horse breed show in Australia, attracting more than40 breeds of horses and ponies to Victoria’s home of equestrian, Werribee National Park EquestrianCentre.

New classes for 2014 will be introduced for Arabian Bridle Hack, Australian Pony Stud Book SocietyDerivative Stallions and Colts and Best Novice Thoroughbreds. Horse Riding Club Association ofVictoria classes will also be split into three sections; levels one and two, level three and levels fourand five.

The RASV has appointed the Racing Victoria Thoroughbred Section as the first ever feature breed,with more than $4,000 in cash and prizes to be won.

The prestigious Best of Show Championship will also be awarded, with $3,000 in cash and prizes upfor grabs.

RASV CEO Mark O’Sullivan said the RASV has implemented a number of positive changes toenhance the exhibitor experience at the 2014 Royal Melbourne Horse Show.

“The Royal Melbourne Horse Show is a key event for Australia’s equestrian industry, particularly forbreeders and the RASV is committed to enhancing the exhibitor experience.

“To maximise the appeal and success of the 2014 Royal Melbourne Horse Show, we have reducedthe cost of entry and secured internationally acclaimed experts as judges, including UK based MrRobert Parker Jones and Mrs Beverley Moore,” said Mr O’Sullivan.

The 2014 Royal Melbourne Horse Show Saddle Horse Championships will act as a qualifier for the2014 Royal Melbourne Show and Show Horse Council of Australasia’s Grand NationalChampionships 2014. The Riding Pony Stud Book Society’s Riding Pony of the Year Show willfeature in the event program on the Saturday evening.

Entries for the 2014 Royal Melbourne Horse Show will close on Monday, 2 December 2013 and theRASV encourages exhibitors to enter by Friday, 8 November 2013 to go into the draw to win one of100 Equestrian Life subscriptions.
