Reiners Sliding Into QSEC for QRHA State Show

Published on Thursday, August 9, 2012 in Sponsored Shows

The Queensland Reining Horse Association (QRHA) State Show is being held at QSEC 15-18 August and is looking set to be an action packed event that Reining fans, or those who want to become fans, shouldn't miss out on!

The sport of Reining has now been recognized by the United States Equestrian Team as the sixth Equestrian discipline (along with Dressage and other traditional English events) and is the very first Western Sport to be accepted by USET.

Reining was a demonstration sport at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and has a huge following. Anyone who was at Equitana in Sydney last year will agree that the Reining competition was one of the highlights of that event.

With competitors coming from all over Australia, hundreds of spectators and approximately $35,000 in cash and prizes on offer, the annual QRHA State Championship Show is a significant event on the Queensland Equine Calendar.

QRHA committee member Leanne Bartlett is very excited about the event, saying, "this is looking like being one of the largest Reining events in Australia. We have 100 horses entered and there will be over 300 runs throughout the show. Highlights of the event will be the Super Sliding Saturday, which will include the Futurities and Open classes."

The QRHA was formed in 1991 and from small beginnings it has grown to become one of the largest affiliates of Reining Australia.

Horsezone is proud to be a major sponsor of this event.

We are looking forward to going along for Super Sliding Saturday and hooting and hollering will all the other fans. As the reiners say - why ride when you can slide?
