More than 300 of Australia’s best dressage horses will converge on Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre for the Saddleworld Dressage Festival, commencing this Thursday, 28 November and running through until Sunday, 1 December.

Presented by Dressage Victoria, the Festival has attracted some of Australia’s leading riders including nine horse and rider combinations, invited by national dressage selectors, who will compete in the FEI World Cup Dressage Pacific League Final in the Freestyle to music on Saturday 30th November.

The Saddleworld Dressage Festival is a qualifying event for the 2014 World Equestrian Games (WEG) to be held in Normandy, France, providing a competition opportunity on home turf for Australian based riders and a chance for Australians to see some of our country’s best talent in action.

“The four-day Saddleworld Dressage Festival provides a competition of international standing to Australia’s local and international dressage riders and for spectators, a chance to experience the classical beauty of dressage in a relaxed setting.

“This year’s event will include a wonderful mix of great competition, entertainment and the popular trade village open throughout the four days,” said Event Director, Elizabeth Porter.

For the country’s Young Riders (16–25 years), the Aachen Challenge, sponsored by Marcus Oldham College, provides the winner an aspirational trip to Germany to visit the CHIO Aachen Equestrian Festival. The hotly contested final for this event will take place on Sunday, 1 December

Off the competition arenas, Dressage Victoria will host a number of rider functions, including the welcome BBQ on the evening of Thursday, 28 November and a celebration dinner for all that is dressage on Saturday, 30 November. The popular ‘Epro Canine Capers’ dog fancy dress and steeplechase novelty events will take place on the evening of Friday, 29 November.
