Sire Spotlight: Connemara Performance Stallion - Celtic Basil

Published on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in Stallionzone

Celtic Basil is an 8yo, 14.2hh Connemara stallion who is well performed under saddle and in-hand.

Ideal for breeding sporthorses, Basil has correct conformation, floating movement and excellent jumping bascule over a fence.

Basil has progeny on the ground who are about to start their performance careers.

He produces colour - buckskin, black, bay, grey - but the best part is that they inherit their sire's outstanding temperament.

Basil's exceptional behaviour and kind giving nature allows his teenage rider, Kayla, to compete in many different disciplines, having loads of fun and success along the way. Basil and Kayla compete all year and he is also her hunting pony.

Celtic Basil certainly is something special and this season may be the only time the public will have the opportunity to breed to him.

Total Livestock Genetics have moved into a fabulous Glenormiston (Victoria) facility which is 10 minutes from Basil's location and are using the knowledgable AI Vet Steve Williams.

Kayla does all the work with Basil when he visits Total Livestock Genetics. She puts him in the float, takes him into the collection centre - past all the cycling mares - and then either takes him home or saddles him up and has a dressage lesson in the indoor arena at same facility.

Basil will be available to a limited number of mares this season.
