Record entries, superb weather, great footing and excellent courses, why would you be anywhere else?

Sydney Showjumping Club staged one of their most successful Winter Championships to date on Sunday 18th July and competitors travelled from all over NSW and interstate to attend.

Four rings catered for heights ranging from 60 cm to 1.40m and a generous line up of sponsors enabled the club to provide extensive prizes and trophies. Many thanks must go to: Keeden Contracting, Oakville Equestrian, Oaks Sporthorses, Sanna Equestrian, Colleen Brook, Peppertree Ranch Rail, BP Service Station Nth Wilberforce, Andrew Inglis & Jenny Sheppard, Agnes Banks Veterinary Clinic, Joyce & Bob Brook, Clare Watkinson, ESP Sports, Eventing NSW & The Fasher Family, Top to Tail Equestrian, Fiona Tiley & Meredith Tillett, Horsezone.com.au , Horsecraft, Equest World Nowra, Sydney Equestrian Supplies, Equitainment.
In ring one, courses were designed by Mark Atkins, who has recently been accredited as an FEI Level 1 course designer, and the Judge was Lyn McLeod.
Ring two was the main ring, and courses were superbly designed by Victorian guest CD David Sheppard and the judge was Juho Luveer.
In ring three the courses of Sue Bettington from Scone all rode beautifully and the judge was Katrina Dukats.
Out in ring four veteran legends of our sport, Bob & Joyce Brook staged a fantastic ring for juniors and green horses with encouraging tracks and well decorated courses. The contribution by these two has been ongoing for decades and their commitment and enthusiasm has seemingly never waned. Thank you Bob & Joyce for all you have done for our club and generations of jumping riders. Judge was Linda Beneke.
SSJC Club President David Lawrence said, "This has been an outstanding day for the club and the Committee & I very are grateful for the contribution of our workers, volunteers and sponsors that ensured its success".

The Sydney Showjumping Club is now, without doubt, the biggest showjumping club in Australia with close to 400 members. It has been in existence for nearly 60 years and has improved markedly from the time of its inception. It has been instrumental in producing the majority of elite Jumpers in this State and boasts the best facilities for competition & training in the country.
In the main ring, Andrew Inglis won the feature event of the show, the Keeden Contracting Grand Prix on the imported Darco mare “Amira”. George Johnson won the Open 1.30m on Kate Wallace’s mare Wondaree Sprite. Tom McDermott won the 1.30 Young Rider, Vicki Roycroft won the 1.20m Open on Sophie Miller’s King’s Style and Monika Herfurth won the 1.20m Junior on Twins Pocket Watch.
Harry Owens made an impressive debut with his new mount CP Southern Cross to win both the 1.05m and the 1.15m classes and we are sure to see more of this combination in the future.
The SSJC will run a training day on Sunday 1st August, competition day on 15th August and competitors are reminded to go to www.globalentriesonline.com.au for online entries for all training & competition days.
