Tim Boland Takes Out NSW Exhibition Eventing Qualifier
By: Equestrian Australia
Tim Boland & Lord Limmerick |
The Be the Influence Equestrian Grand Final Exhibition Eventing qualifier showcased the highs and lows of eventing at the weekend's Wallaby Hill Equestrian Extravaganza.
First place went to Tim Boland on the imported gelding Lord Limmerick, the combination were placed second after the dressage and produced a safe and tidy jumping round with the wise move not to attempt the joker landing them the title. Megan Bryant on her Australian Stock Horse Talinga Cavalier were a last minute addition to the event and were the leaders after the dressage. They produced the fastest jumping round of the class but had an expensive rail at the 1.45 metre joker which cost the combination first place. The bold decision to attempt the joker did pay off however for young rider Elizabeth Crosato who was one of three to leave the joker standing, the bonus eight points put the combination into equal second place with Megan Bryant. The optimum time of 86 seconds proved to be consistently hard to make for all nine competitors.
The Gow-Gates Equestrian Team Triathlon was won by the dream team, featuring event rider Shane Rose and jumping rider David Cameron who finished on their team's dressage score, which was posted by Brett Parbery. Shane Rose usually the King of Exhibition Eventing, was the busiest competitor of the day and turned out to be quite the triathlete, finishing in the top three teams. The next exhibition eventing qualifier will be held at Melbourne Royal in September with the final to follow at EQUITANA Melbourne from 20-23 November.
