Dressage riders at Sydney’s Centennial Park Equestrian Centre were very excited to be able to watch three of their own competing at the Sydney CDI last week – Mark Arthur, Michelle Baker and young rider Jessica Clark (also based with the Ryans near Newcastle).  Unfortunately , Denise Rogan was also going to compete with her gorgeous Jazz mare Just One Wish but an incident  at the last moment where Denise sustained a painful knee injury forced her to withdraw.

Between the riders, most of the competitions were covered – from the Young Horse 4 and 5yo  classes, to the Prix St George, Inter I and II, Grand Prix CDN, CDI-Y and the Inter Freestyle.

Michelle was flat chat, jumping on and off a few different steeds, especially on the Thursday .  As well as her own and Kelly Paton’s elegant Coldstream Dante, she rode in a range of comps on  clients’ horses - Abendstern for Joanne Mason , Hillbreeze Standout for Damon Barlow and Callum Park Freya for Liza Carver. Michelle was rapt to be able to ride in the Intermediate Freestyle CDN on the Saturday night and rode a beautiful test with a cracking medium canter!!

Mark Arthur, always such a pleasure to watch on Kooinda Saint, aka “Tom”, had some super results which culminated in a 6th in the Intermediate Freestyle CDN.  Jessica Clark competed on UQG Galahad in the test for Young Riders, the Individual CDI-Y and was also really excited to qualify for the Young Rider Freestyle event. Jessica is very determined and dedicated girl and has an exciting future ahead of her.

Horsezone wishes Denise a speedy recovery. She has lots of projects to keep her busy including her new position as the NSW Dressage Rider's Representative - for which she's created a facebook page to encourage plenty of communication!
