12hh, 11 year old Welsh x English Riding Pony - Gelding.
Palomino in winter \ Silver Taffy in Summer
Zac has been my daughters first pony from 4yrs (lead line and harness) through to independent arena riding, out on trails and competing at stock horse youth & pony club musters & events.
Zac is for sale as my daughter now has a bigger horse & her little brothers sadly prefer motorbikes. 😪
Zac lives at my parents property Minden SE Qld (we’re in Brisbane) and has been ridden every two weeks, except for school holidays, when he is handled, ridden & driven in harness by the grandkids more regularly (raw beginners to more confident riders).
Easy lead line pony, both on foot or from another horse. Will run beside you anywhere or over anything!
Can be forward moving, when out and about so is suited to a confident beginner, for independent out of arena riding.
Loves to jump, has never refused anything asked of him. Is competitive in sporting and flat work / dressage at pony club.
Zac has done miles of road work (ridden & harness) a few months of mustering / cattle work in his early days, pleasure, trail riding, some youth Stock Horse events, dressage & pony club musters and competitions. He always returns ribbons.
Well broken, with three even paces, uses correct leads & has a snaffle mouth. Good on the lunge, to teach young riders or safe for independent beginner riding instruction in an arena. Collects nicely for flat work when asked by a more experienced rider.
He is amazing in harness, we use him to train weanlings and breakers to lead. He would make a great competition harness pony!
He is currently out of work (3months) yet still in very good condition. Will be brought back into work over the school holidays.
Due to drought, Zac is currently in a small yard and hand fed, so when he is ridden he is initially a little fresh. His worst trait is a few pigroot’s on the lunge for the first few, laps or canter strides when ridden. He’s desperate for a stretch! Once this is out of his system, he rarely puts a foot wrong.
No malice, buck, bolt, shy .. easy for kids to do everything with, catch, handle, float, feed, rug etc.
Great feet, so no need to shoe, but has had them when work dictates.
No worries with dogs, bikes or farm equip.
Zac is a very good doer, low maintenance. Never foundered.
If the young rider is receiving instruction, Zac will develop with your littlie favourably as he has had a solid, education and responds well to aids.
If they just want to flap about, he’s good with that too.
When worked regularly, he is suitable for just about anyone to ride independently.
Zac is not push button though, you do have to ride him. He is free moving when needed yet push along based on who/what is being asked of him.
Zac’s ideal home will be with a family who ride him regularly, or have an older confident rider in the house to easily push him forward through any initial freshness if fed and left unridden for weeks at a time.
- He may be a lead line pony for now, with the view to moving on to independent riding.
- He might be a confident beginners second pony, ready to participate competitively in pony club or the show ring next year.
- He might be someone’s new harness prospect for pleasure or performance!
Zac is a very showy pony, he is well bred, although not registered and never fails to turn heads.
He’s a super useful and fun pony to have about, for the right horsey home.
