Rex is a 16.1hh, 13yo (14 in August), Thoroughbred gelding.
He's good to ride in the arena, with a beautiful, ground covering canter, a really honest jumper and great outside the arena too!
He doesn't get hot on xc. His training has been limited, though he is bold and even seems to enjoy schooling up to grade 2.
You can ride him on the buckle down the road and he's not spooky in the bush either.
Just jump on after weeks of no work and he's fine! No pre-ride lunge work required!
He raced successfully until he was 7yo under the name Doughty in NSW.
Though he is forward moving, Rex does enjoy relaxed walks down the road on a long rein.

Has jumped up to 1.10m. Can get a bit hot as the jumps get higher but happy to trot and pop over the smaller heights.
Rex has been exposed to a lot since his racing days. He's been taken to ponyclub rallies, regularly travelling to lessons, clinics and competitions, ridden on busy roads and thru the bush and he goes the same with or without company.
Mostly competed in show jumping competitions but he has had a handful of dressage tests (at combined training) and one eventing start.
Rex has been ridden by young teens, both nervous and experienced, taught lessons and even helped a (very) nervous mum return to riding after 14 years of not riding at all.
He adapts well to his rider.
Rex isn't perfect, though he has never bucked, reared, bronced or bolted with his current owner he has a tendancy to get a little nervous in the trotwork at times making it hard to get a consistent contact for some riders.
He does settle with a patient and consistent rider.
He's easy to handle and do pretty much everything on the ground and is a super sweet and smoochy boy. A real mothers dream. (Probably his strongest attribute).
Has been paddocked alone and with company and copes well either way, though can be a bit bossy towards other horses at feed times.
Recently had his teeth done, showed a 0 egg count on his last faecal egg count and is fully shod regularly every 6 weeks.
Rex hasn't started on any joint suppliments. So we feel he has many years of competition riding left in him, if that's the direction you want to go.
His price is negotiable as we really want to find Rex the best possible home.
