Nine year old thoroughbred gelding, Hilltop Hood, has retired from racing sound and healthy after being a quality country stayer. More than being a winner of seven races over long distances, he is a really nice moving, nice to be with, quality horse. He deserves a home where he will have an appropriate work program, have mates and be loved and cared for. That’s all he has ever known.
He retired from racing in mid August and I have been too busy to advertise him, so he is one bored thoroughbred. The linked videos and photos were taken at our Queanbeyan (NSW) stables some weeks ago. What you can see in the video is a horse that was in a big saddle for the first time since he was broken in, and the first time he had been ridden in maybe six weeks. He stands 16.2 hand high, weighs 560+ kgs, has a naturally glowing bay coat, a very masculine head, a really strong body, a couple of scratches from 7 years of competition and a heart as big as Texas.
Hilltop Hood is still at our Queanbeyan stables and he is now three months out of racing and is being fed pony feed. He is not that happy about that. He is healthy, sound in the legs and has good breathing. He was retired because he was no longer competitive. He was not injured. He is as nice a horse as we have ever bred and raced. We want him to find a good home.
We have put a price on him but if you can convince us that you will give him a second career and that you can afford to look after him, then we are prepared to negotiate on price.
Please don’t call me if you cannot provide the things we are looking for. If you can, then feel free to ring and chat.
