Altered Boy, paddock name: Trooper
16.2hh TB gelding, foaled 2005 (by Danehill Dancer)
He's handsom (astute, so perfect for the hunter ring for you enclined showies - covers ground as you ask him to).
He's brave (aplocolypse lurking on your doorstep? This is the horse you want to ride into battle....or away from it... he legit will jump or charge anything you point him at)
He's educated; after a solid 9yrs of racing, he went straight into eventing stables, including a solid 3yrs with Sam Lyle under his last owner + on property training.
Competed EA90 & 1*, but then I bought him and well... COVID & floods... then my motivation lapsed. (Actually, I pulled him out of the paddock, put 3 weeks into him and went almost clear in a 90cm round back in Sept - we just had a lazy last rail, otherwise clear)
I have procrastinated WAY too long to release Troops to his new home.... way too long... as he is such a legend of a horse, but the reality of my circumstances are now more of a freight train's headlights blaring in my direct trajectory, and he is blissfully unaware of the turned out life he's been living for the last 8 weeks... (price reflects his recent holiday)
He's sound, solid, easy keeper, hard worker; akin to a blue collar tradie - he likes to turn up to work, do what he's told, puts in a good day's work for a good day's hay, and doesn't want anything outside that - he doesn't like being fussed over and reacts like a child who doesn't want a sweater pulled over his head when doing so. He just wants to get to the job site, and get the job done. No fancy stuff. (but will stand to be plaited and have body work done...because...who doesn't like their hair played with and their muscles rubbed?)
Floats and stands for the vet/farrier/chiro/dentist like a champion. Twitch him for clipping. Easy to catch (or have the food bucket rattled).
LOVES trail rides and doesn't have any separation or "I need to be in front" energy. Would make an exceptional field hunter (or working) hunter.
I purchased him to get back into riding after a huge break off riding, and just wanted something that was beyond me that could take me back to where I left off 7+ years ago and go futher. But as mentioned, COVID and La Nina had other plans so we've just been in and out of work.
He has more go than whoa (coz I am a lazy rider and would prefer to ride responsive brakes over effort to move forward... he's ridden in a snaffle, no rings, stops/rates good as... put him in a gear and he stays in it, no nagging or holding required).
Up to date with worming, vet qualified chiro (report can be supplied) & feet, but he is out of work. His price reflects this. It will go up if I send him out to a trainer/get him back into work.
As mentioned: it doesn't take much to bring him back into work and if my heart was in it, and a show with 1m+ class was only 3 weeks away; I'd enter him with no hesitation.
This horse has trained 120+ courses with previous owner under Sam Lyle & with his fitness back, would be a great mount for the rider wishing to get there.
I don't have copious video, but here is one from his last owner who bought him from a 1* comp home, doing EA90 - Trooper absolutely carries him like a champ (this horse will jump to the moon before he stops... he does not have a stop in him, on the course when it comes to an obstacle -unless you make it clear-): https://vimeo.com/264946318
Pics from Sept at they Syd SJ "jump into spring" comp (before I had him clipped) + pics from his eventing days with previous owner.
