Barz Open - DoodleBug
Grey Gelding, 12yo, 16.1hh Off the Track Thoroughbred, although when people hear that they don’t quite believe it! He has a lovely, kind temperament. With movement that floats like a Warmblood and an eye catching presence, Doodlebug has had great success in every discipline including wins at 2* Eventing, wins in straight dressage, wins in straight Showjumping and even has competed successfully in Show Horse!
He competes Elementary dressage level, well established medium level movements except flying changes he is still training. With scores very close to 70% in elementary dressage. Both in eventing and straight dressage the judges want to score him well (he is more often than not leading the dressage phase in eventing).
Barz Open moved up to 2* level in eventing in 2023 winning 2 of his starts and placing 2nd at the other this year. He competed in straight show jumping and straight dressage coming home with wins and places in large classes.
Barz Open has the talent and scope to go higher with an experienced rider but I am not in a position to do that starting a new apprenticeship this year. He would also be an excellent amateur, interschools or even a very wonderful adult rider mount.
He has proved himself in the Showjumping ring, competing up to 1.25m and placing in Young Rider Classes. He recently won the 1.15m Table C class at the Perth Royal Show this year. He can turn on a dime and covers the ground effortlessly and is fast without looking fast.
I have loved this horse for the last 4 years and competed in everything from interschools to FEI eventing. He truly has my heart and if I could keep him forever I would, but I now work full time and I can’t afford to keep them all. He is such a pleasure to have around, ride, cuddle and cry into his neck. He is a favourite for our whole family. He has been ridden easily by a 9 year old at home and for the past 3 weeks whilst I have been injured he has had a junior ticking him over- he is a lovely kind ride.
He has some quirks, so an experienced home is important. He does wind suck and can also walk the fence if dinner is late. He will sometimes weave in the stable waiting for his food and a sometimes at an event he may weave when tied up for the whole day if he is bored. He loves to keep busy. These quirks are reflected in his price.
Vet reports and X-rays are available.
