Hi, I’m Teddy a 16.2hh pretty bay thoroughbred gelding 14 years young. I started life as a racehorse but was told I was too slow so early on I was sacked. Rising 5 I was bought by a competitive show jumper in QLD who took me very quickly to jumping real big fences but, honestly, I only really jumped them out of fear and never really learnt how to balance myself properly so I just went at them hard and fast. My current mum bought me when I was 11 and soon realised I was lacking in some fundamentals and so has been working with me on the flat ever since to try to help me work out how to balance myself by myself. I really struggled with my canter transitions and often got my back legs all muddled up and could only right them with a little pigroot. I’ve pretty much got that sorted now and am feeling really quite happy about doing lots of dressage stuff. I really try hard to please but sometimes things can confuse me a bit and when that happens I need to do something different for a little to help unconfuse me. Mum says I have some really nice movement but says it’s probably a bit late in my life to expect me to be a Grand Prix horse. I’m not really sure what she means by that but . . . . . Mum takes me out trail riding on my own and with others which I really quite like. I can get a bit excited when we get to canter and just want to open out. Sometimes mum just lets me so I can have some fun but other times she makes me wait which I do but I do take a bit of holding. However, I’m really good with traffic, kangaroos and stuff like that with nothing much phasing me. Mum says I’d not really be right for a beginner as I still need a bit of help myself and am not ready to teach someone how to ride. I need someone who is quietly confident, who knows when to push me a bit but also when to back off, so as to keep me progressing. Mum says if you are looking for a jumping pony I’m not for you as I still get really anxious when I have to jump. But, I’m a delight to handle on the ground and love my cuddles. I have shoes on and my farrier says I’m the best to shoe. I straight load or angle load and take my medications without fuss. I’m really looking forward to my new ‘forever home’ and being someone’s number 1. Whatever you give me I’ll give you back in spades. If you like the sound of me give my mum a ring she’ll be totally honest with you about me as she wants me to have the best of homes. 😊 $3k ono. Message my mum for video footage of me working.
