For sale, “Enemy of the Crown”, 11yo, chestnut, TB Gelding 16hh.
Very regretful sale of a truly talented horse due to pregnancy and time constraints. Working full time, having limited room and facilities and being unable to ride, has led me to come to the extremely difficult decision to sell “Ace” so he can continue to be in work and live a happy life. Ace is a great allrounder. I would love to see him go to an ambitious rider to take him up the grades. He is very inquisitive with a playful nature always being the first horse over in the morning for a pat before his breaky.
Ace has been competed up to 80cm in local show jumping competitions regularly (Hastings Valley Showjumping Club and Wingham Showjumping Club etc). We have been to multiple jump clinics together over the years and he often had great remarks from the coaches including Colleen Brook, who remarked that he would be the sort of horse she would take home and that he is as light as a feather over the jumps. He shows a lot more scope but I have not had the time or access to facilities to take him up the grades myself, I also had never competed in jumping before purchasing Ace so he was a great horse to show me the ropes. I have evented Ace up to 60cm at Nana glen ODE where he took everything in his stride, he really excelled in the cross-country phase, always coming in under time and never stopping at a fence (despite never having seen a cross country fence before actually going in his first event!). He has previously completed up to prelim dressage with great results although we do not regularly compete in the dressage arena. Ace was getting regular lessons last year before I was unable to continue riding, he can do novice lateral movements with ease. He has an extremely soft snaffle mouth and works well in a frame. I have taken Ace out hacking regularly including farm rides around cattle as well as going on multiple trips to our local beach which he loves. He would happily play in the water all day or gallop along the beach if given the chance.
Ace has not been ridden since December and is in paddock condition, due to no fault of his own, which is reflected in his price. I have always felt in control whilst riding Ace and most of the time he is quite lazy but he can get hot, looky, and anxious at times and did go through a stage of suffering from ulcers. Diet management, regular work and a paddock friend has greatly helped him with this. He can be difficult to float, although in saying this I have never not been able to get him on with time and patience. I will only sell Ace to an intermediate to experienced rider as he is not a horse for beginners. Ace is the sort of horse who works best when he is in regular work.
Ace is UTD with Hendra, tetanus, dental, worming. He is usually shod but currently barefoot and seen to by a farrier every 6wks. Ace was suffering from rain scald due to the recent rains but this is clearing nicely.
Asking price is negotiable to the right home. Located Redbank NSW. Please only genuine enquiries. This is a very regretful and sad sale of a much-loved family member, which in different circumstances I would never consider doing.
