Fred has to be sold; property is for sale and rider/owner is no longer riding.
Fred is destined for eventing success. He is super flash (on starting to trot, a top dressage coach caught her breath and exclaimed “where did that come from!”), has a beautiful canter, and has heaps of scope over a fence. He is brave, sensible and shows an enormous amount of potential. That said, he had his first competive outing a few weeks ago and did not behave as we would have hoped. His price is a reflection of the fact he will need a kind, patient and confident rider to get Fred ready to fulfil his anticipated competive potential, of which there is lots!
Fred who 8 years old and 16.1hh, had about 10 starts as a racehorse where he was a little average. He retired sound as a five-year-old and spent a year in a paddock, beginning his retraining in February 2020. Covid and weather have played havoc with his commencing a competitive career; he has been entered for Novice dressage tests and 90cm and 1.00cm showjumping comps, but either foul weather or Covid has resulted in him only just recently being taken out to a full on comp. He has attended cross country clinics, spent 10 days with a professional eventer for cross country training, and been out to local jump clubs. He has laterals and changes sorted and will give a confident and competent rider a huge amount of enjoyment.
Fred requires a confident rider; he is clever and there may be times his rider has to convince him that their way is the right way! He is a tad grumpy on the ground but has been handled by an amateur without any issues. He is not suited to a beginner though a confident and competent amateur could have an enormous amount of fun with this boy. He would thrive with a more experienced rider and it likely wouldn’t take long to get this boy up into the * level classes.
Fred is for sale through no fault of his own. I have a long-term injury (not Fred related!) which is keeping me out of the saddle so he needs to find his new home soon. His price is negotiable for the perfect home.
The right home is really important for this handsome boy. Lots has been spent on his training and education (with top riders and trainers) so it is an opportunity to get your hands on a really talented horse where most of the hard work has been done - though there may be more work to do in making sure he is happy and settled when in a high octane competition environment.
